Where and when did you complete your training?
My training is nowhere near complete, but I've studied Medical Qigong in Berkeley, CA, and classical QiGong/DaoYin forms have been a part of my Martial Arts and TuiNa(Massage) practice for years.
Is there a particular practice or theory that informs your teaching?
The practice is the path; its about the process, and not the destination. That and the fact that everyone thinks their breathing is fine until they actually start paying attention...
How long have you been practicing?
I'd say some form of QiGong has been a part of my martial arts practice since 1998, but its become a more daily focus in the last 6 years.
What yoga/fitness-related continued education courses have your attended?
I have been a personal trainer certified by the American Council on Exercise and National College of Exercise Professionals. I credit Dr. Jen Reznick, Suzannah Stason, and Tom Bisio for revitalizing my QiGong Practice
What is your favorite class to teach?
QiGong
What inspired you to start your personal practice?
Probably Kung Fu movies on Channel 56 when I was 7 years old.
What inspired you to start teaching?
My Hawaiian Kempo Grandmaster passed away almost 3 years ago, and it reminded me that the important things in life need to be passed on, and not allowed to fade away.
What in-class memory warms your heart?
A smile that signifies a breakthrough into the moment.
If there was one thing you could impart to your students, what would it be?
You can always relax more.
